Professor Donglei Song graduated from Shanghai Medical University in 1990 and trained in neurosurgery at Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, under Professor Liangfu Zhou. He received his clinical medical doctorate in 1998, became Chief Physician at Huashan Hospital in 2005, and was approved as Professor and doctoral supervisor in 2007.
Before 2013, he served as Chief Physician, Professor, doctoral supervisor, and head of the cerebrovascular disease medical group in Huashan Hospital Neurosurgery. Since 2013, he has held leadership roles at Shanghai Deji Hospital, including President, Academic President, and Director of the Cerebrovascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center. In 2015, he founded the Donglei Brain Doctor Group.
His clinical practice combines microsurgical operating capability with neurointerventional technology for difficult brain and spinal vascular disease.
Professor Song has trained and exchanged in France, the United States, Canada, Korea, Turkey, Brazil, Germany, Australia, Thailand, and other regions, and has delivered invited lectures at major international neurointerventional meetings.

In 2015, Professor Song founded Donglei Brain Doctor Group. In 2019, he led the establishment of Shanghai Donglei Brain Hospital and served as its president, with the first phase opening 100 beds and strategic cooperation with major brain-specialty and international medical-zone institutions.
In 2021, the hospital's annual surgical volume exceeded 2,000 cases, establishing it as a high-volume center for specialized neurosurgery. The same year, he helped initiate the Song Donglei Brain Research and Development Fund under the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Education Development Foundation to support advanced clinical research.
In 2024, he was selected for the National Health Science Popularization Expert Database and expanded public-facing medical education through multimedia digital platforms. In 2025, he delivered a keynote report at the Huanhu International Cerebrovascular Disease Conference. In 2026, he continued dementia-related public education and signed a strategic cooperation with Neusoft Medical.
Participated in National Natural Science Foundation projects, Shanghai major research programs, clinical medicine center initiatives, and national technology-support studies on aneurysm, subarachnoid hemorrhage, cerebral ischemia, and AVM treatment.
Contributed to neurosurgery, neurology, endovascular neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, and DSA diagnosis textbooks and professional monographs.
Since 2003, he has regularly organized national continuing education programs on cerebrovascular surgery, interventional treatment, and new neurosurgical technologies.
Reported honors include selection to the 2012 China Top Doctors list, nomination for Shanghai's first Medical Ethics Model award, and the 2014 Qipu Award for innovation in physician services in China's health industry.
